Bideawee Protest #5 on January 26, 2014: ONE YEAR LATER
The Video and Photo above are from that Protest. It was a very cold and WINDY day, and you'll be able to hear some of that wind in the Video! (Please adjust the volume if you have difficulty hearing the speaker over the wind.)
The animal activists were troopers for tolerating the weather for the cause of the animals!
The Video above mentions Nancy Taylor, who is the CEO of Bideawee, and who was emailed about Gary's witnessed abuse. (Nancy makes over 200K a year, but she is rarely in the NYC Bideawee, and even more rarely with the DOGS. She is responsible for protecting the animals in her charge).
It has been about ONE YEAR later, ONE YEAR since the volunteer reported Bideawee's employment of an animal abuser, and Bideawee has done nothing, and has NOT been held accountable.

Bideawee Protest #4 on October 6, 2013
New York, NY—On October 6, 2013, there was another protest against Bideawee, located at 410 East 38th Street, in NYC.
The above Video and Photo are from that Protest.
Bideawee is a NYC ANIMAL SHELTER that has been employing an animal abuser named GARY HOOPER there for years. And, Bideawee has been retaliatory when this has been brought to their attention, in addition to ignoring the protests and phone calls against Gary Hooper. They have also been unresponsive to a generous offer to fund the installation of security cameras FOR FREE, which just shows that Bideawee is protecting an animal abuser.
Bideawee really exemplifies the case of the fox guarding the hen house.
This is one of several protests against Bideawee, since subsequent inquiring phone calls after our previous protests were NOT returned. They do NOT want to be held ACCOUNTABLE for employing an animal abuser.

On June 17, 2013, there was a rally against the “Bideawee Ball” fundraiser at Gotham Hall located at 1356 Broadway in NYC. Bideawee is a NYC ANIMAL SHELTER that has been employing an animal abuser named GARY HOOPER there for years. And, Bideawee has been retaliatory when this has been brought to their attention, in addition to ignoring the protests and phone calls against Gary Hooper.

In Video #1, a Bideawee Staffer shook her finger at a protester. The Staffer was defending an animal abuser, and saying "You know him?"
Staffer Val, you know who doesn't KNOW Gary with the animals? Upper Management at Bideawee, like Steve Tedder and Marcia Hennessey, rarely are even on the FLOORS that the animals are. And, Gary is allowed unlimited, unsupervised time with the animals. And, this all occurs without cameras.
Bideawee is RELYING on people like you, Val, who will never stand up
to having an animal abuser on their Staff, or even stand for having
cameras in the multitude of areas where Gary Hooper can have unlimited,
unsupervised time with the animals.

Video #3 shows Georgina Bloomberg, NYC Mayor's Bloomberg's daughter,
refusing more information on abuse at Bideawee, even as she enters the
Bideawee Fundraiser. She is probably buffered by her father's billions,
which leads her to keep her head in the sand regarding animal abuse,
and its cover-up, at Bideawee.
Bideawee Animal Abuse Protest #2 on April 28, 2013
April 28, 2013, New York, NY. Bideawee on 410 East 38th Street, New York, NY 10016 was protested AGAIN for continuing to employ an animal abuser, GARY HOOPER.
The Footage above is from that protest, and the NYPD was called AGAIN on us, and again for no reason, as the first Video above shows.
This is the SECOND protest against Bideawee, since subsequent inquiring phone calls after our first protest were NOT returned. They do NOT want to be held ACCOUNTABLE for employing an animal abuser.

Bideawee Animal Abuse Protest on March 10, 2013
March 10, 2013, New York, NY. Bideawee on 410 East 38th Street, New York, NY 10016, was protested for employing an animal ABUSER, Gary Hooper, there for years.
The above Videos were taken from that Protest of Bideawee.
When one volunteer brought Gary Hooper to the attention to the Staff at Bideawee, she was RETALIATED upon when they made her quit volunteering, while saying she was a "good volunteer"! Staffers Marcia Hennessey (HR!) and Steve Tedder (MARKETING!) just wanted to protect their emotionally disturbed Staffer, Gary, and did NOT care about the animals. In fact, they ignored her suggestion to place cameras where Gary has unlimited, solitary access to the animals.
Gary has also abused people, and many have complained to the Staff about him. There is a documented connection between people who abuse animals and people who abuse other people. But, when you have the head of their HR Department, Marcia Hennessey, PROTECTING Gary, what happens is that the people who complain about him are retaliated upon, and an atmosphere of fear (of losing their jobs) is what remains instead of a solution.
We want Gary Hooper fired from BOTH Bideawee locations (there is a location in Long Island). This emotionally disturbed man should NOT have access to animals.
When we were protesting, Bideawee called the NYPD on us.

Apparently, Bideawee does NOT know that it is our Right to Protest. And, just because they were BOTHERED by our protest, does NOT make it a crime. Below is footage from when Bideawee called the NYPD, which spoke to us and acknowledged our right to peacefully protest, which, of course, Bideawee cannot deny:

For Immediate Release
New York, NY--March 10, 2013 (THIS Sunday) at 2pm Daylight Savings Time, there will be a protest against Bideawee on 410 East 38th Street, New York, NY 10016, a NYC ANIMAL SHELTER, for employing an animal abuser named GARY HOOPER there for years.
This is really a case of the fox guarding the hen house.
His abuse of animals has been witnessed, and he also verbally harasses PEOPLE. There is a documented connection between abuse of animals and abuse of people.
When brought to the attention of the Bideawee Staff through emails, it took them many months to arrange a sit-down meeting that was SUPPOSED to be about Gary Hooper's abuse. It wasn't.
They RETALIATED against one volunteer who was reporting on Gary's abuse by forcing her to leave volunteering, in a decision that both Marcia Hennessey (HR) and Steve Tedder (MARKETING) said they had reached BEFORE even sitting down to the meeting. The meeting was never about the abuser, Gary.
That's how Bideawee handled complaints about having an animal abuser on its Staff! They have received many other complaints about Gary, but most people who complain about him just disappear from Bideawee, or quit, leaving an atmosphere of fear (of losing their jobs) to everyone else, and the animals remain in harm's way. He is protected by Marcia Hennessey, who said she views her Staff as her "babies" and set up a false dichotomy between choosing between Gary and people who complain about him.
The choice should be about choosing what is good for the ANIMALS, which she never mentioned.
Their MARKETING man, Steve Tedder, initially tried to make jokes and minimize the situation of having an animal abuser WORKING in an animal shelter by saying it was some kind of "personality difference".
Neither Marcia nor Steve frequent the FLOORS where the animals are kept, and do NOT have direct knowledge of how Gary treats the animals. They are also NOT often there when Gary is actually working, and this is usually true of Sundays. (This protest will be held THIS Sunday).
ADOPT from Bideawee just to get them away from that abusive Staffer, Gary Hooper!
